Pedro Pedro - Le Goût du Plaisir

28.05 - 10.07.2026

Doriano Navarra and Lio Malca are delighted to present Le Goût du Plaisir, Pedro Pedro’s first solo exhibition in Paris, featuring a new body of work.

Born in 1986, Pedro moved to New York with friends in 2006, where he became part of the Brooklyn art scene. He later relocated to Los Angeles, where he continues to live and work.

Pedro began painting at the age of twenty while recovering from surgery in the hospital. During that time, he discovered the vivid effect of applying textile paint directly onto unprimed linen, a method that has since become central to his practice. Over the years, he has developed a highly distinctive visual language, recognizable at a glance and marked by a refined sense of technical precision.

His subjects are lit with a surreal intensity and often appear slightly exaggerated in scale and perspective, at times recalling the rounded forms of Fernando Botero. His more recent dessert paintings also echo the sweetness and structure of Wayne Thiebaud, one of Pedro’s favorite artists.

Guided by an affection for the pleasures of everyday life, Le Goût du Plaisir brings together images of food, drink, leisure, and domestic objects. A ripe piece of fruit, a home-cooked meal, a shared table, a passing moment of ease. In Pedro’s paintings, these simple subjects are given weight, warmth, and presence.

What first appears as pleasure gradually reveals itself as something deeper: a belief in the ordinary as already complete. In Pedro’s work, happiness does not arrive as spectacle. It resides in the immediacy of experience, in the simple fact of being present with what is already before us.
