12.02.2009 – 21.03.2009

In collaboration with Galerie Patrick Seguin

In 1989, Enrico Navarra, opened his first gallery, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. In addition to exhibitions by contemporary artists among the greatest, such as Basquiat, Nikki de Saint Phalle, César, Keith Haring … Enrico Navarra has produced numerous monographic publications devoted to artists (Arman, Basquiat) and to architects (Tadao Ando, Rudy Ricciotti). In recent years, Enrico Navarra has been organising exhibitions in Dubai, Shanghai and New Delhi, and promoting numerous international artists.

Patrick Seguin is one of the leading figures of 20th century Design. Since the opening of his gallery in 1989, he has revealed, on an international scale, the talent of designers and architects such as Perriand, Prouvé, Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, Royère. Solicited by the most renowned museums, such as the Center Pompidou in Paris, the MoMA in New York, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil-am-Rhein, collaborating with international galleries such as Sonnabend Gallery New York and Gagosian Gallery Los Angeles, Patrick Seguin has been at the start of original exhibitions.

10 years after the exhibition “Prouvé: furnitures and prototypes” which celebrated the co-publication of the monographic book “Jean Prouvé”, Enrico Navarra invites Galerie Patrick Seguin to organise a new exhibition “Jean Prouvé” within its walls. We will be able to admire some pieces among the emblematic works of Jean Prouvé, and in particular an astonishing stepladder from a vault room (1951), a rare Granipoli table (1939), an imposing Presidency desk (Niamey 1951) and a door with ribbed aluminum portholes (1952) … Two animated films will also be shown which give an account of Prouvé’s construction principle for the 1944 demountable pavilions and “Meudon” type houses. A whole typology of pieces that will retrace the journey of one who was one of the most innovative designers of the twentieth century.
